I just wanted to say that I like the warehouse cart turned coffee table. T think that it a cool way to repurpose a old piece of equipment into a piece of furniture with old world charm. I believe that I enjoy these so much because I work at Hamilton Caster who has been making trucks similar to this for over 100 years.

I have a couple of questions though. First is the truck in the picture above a Fairbanks truck? Also how much do you sell one of these coffee tables for?

The whole steampumk fail was bad enough. All we need is a crowd of addle brained fashion whores copping our thing. Sooo tired of "the next big thing" causing a run on the field and both driving the aesthetic turfside and making treasures disapear or out of reach. I had a lot of fun collecting and using old razors til ebay and some "dry shaving" fad met in a dark alley somewhere.

This is a sad trend. For better than a decade now I've been inclined to keep my antiquing spots and favorite objects of obsession to myself. With the speed of cultural transmission and fashion trends in hyperdrive we're better off that way.I know it's about makig a quick buck and being entertained for another ten minutes but really? Couldn't they just stick to trucker hats and skinny jeans a little while longer for the sake of the rest of us? Maybe explore the Solid Gold dancer look or rehash Buck Rogers again?

I know I'm being sour grapes about it but it's really disheartening.

I wonder how it turned out? My parents bought me an antique piano from a garage sale when I was small which was covered in dark dark purple finish. My mom and aunt waited until my dad went away one weekend (haha) and spent two solid days with toothbrushes and paint remover until they got it all back to the original mahogany and it was and still is BEAUTIFUL. totally worth the work, even 20 years later.

Best of luck with it!

Nice find! Thrifts are a wonderful place to find treasures if you're willing to do some looking. Most of our furniture is thrifted or was found at auction. The pieces are not only useful but sturdier and have more charm IMO than if it were all new and matching. It's true that "they don't make 'em like they used to".

I saw a show on Tesla a couple of months ago, on PBS I think. It was fascinating and the best part was a filmed tour of the labs on this site, and the foundation of his huge tower. I was amazed that so much equipment is still there without destruction by vandals or thieves, and new construction hasn't taken over the property. I'm thrilled to know that the site may be preserved! Thanks for the story!
